R E S O L U T I O N Spokane Tribal Resolution 2021-272
IMPOSING A BURN BAN ON THE SPOKANE INDIAN RESERVATION
WHEREAS, the Spokane Tribal Council, (“Council”), is the duly constituted governing body of the Spokane Tribe, (“Tribe”), by authority of the Constitution of the Spokane Tribe; (“Constitution”); and
WHEREAS, under the Constitution of the Tribe, the Council is charged with the duty of protecting the health, security and general welfare of the Tribe and all Reservation residents;
and
WHEREAS, under the Constitution of the Tribe, the Council is charged with the duty to administer the affairs and assets of the Tribe including Tribal lands, funds, minerals, timber, water rights and other resources under appropriate contracts; and
WHEREAS, Fire Management is requesting that all previous open Burning permits that have been issued are null in void, with the exception of Cultural and Traditional Use on the Spokane Indian Reservation; and
WHEREAS, Fire Management has concerns with fires escaping; and
WHEREAS, all Burning Permits from Fire Management that have been issued are hereby invalid with the exception for Cultural and Traditional use Permits; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Council approves imposing a Burn Ban on the Spokane Indian Reservation.
